Reflective

28/2/22- survey - this was the first task of the fmp to get an understanding of where my strengths are and where my weaker parts are as well as this survey allowed me to think more into what i wanted to do for the fmp.

we completed a skills audit for the fmp describing what we can take from the projects we completed for the level 3 course such as the how to video or the film scene.

01/03/22 -  started fmp rationale template. explaining what my project is and the general considerations when it comes to making my idea develop

02/03/22- mindmup- i began creating a general mindmap of the different options i have with creating a short film. i analysed the lighting effects, angles, genres, etc to make the most relevant and precise idea. finished rationale.

03/03/22- questionnaire- we completed a questionnaire on what projects we enjoyed the most and why as well as giving our general idea for a plan A and B idea.

we also went through the fmp assignment brief and discussed what we are required to do and have completed for the final submission.

7/03/22- learnt about single and multi camera productions discussing what type of productions would use these and why? we then did a practical on using multi camera and recorded a vlog reflecting on what we achieved the week prior.

we got into groups of 4-5 and created a small practical on multi camera production answering some questions for a vlog on what we did last week for the FMP.

08/03/22- started with creating a survey on our chosen ideas. discussing aspects like is it a good idea, what genres would you consider highly?, etc.

make an attempt on creating an initial idea and why you think it is a good idea

09/03/22- we started by answering class members surveys.

we did some research on feminism to build an understanding of the ethical considerations when filming a production. below are questions we were asked to complete. along these questions i analysed the presentation and made some critical pointers on the research page.

  1. I'm going to make sure that my final major project doesn't disregard or violate in anyway the opposite gender or any other discouraging uses of language or visuals.
  2. I don't think this applied to specifics its mainly a common appeal however anyone who differentiates from them can choose as to what they prefer.
  3. I've included a summary of the activity above showing my understanding on feminism from the presentation.

below is a attempt to sound design a Mario trailer for the Nintendo switch.

For this practical i used adobe audition and premiere pro to export the final piece with visuals. sound design is the stages a sound goes through when it is made from scratch. we started with downloading the footage and sounds/music we needed to use. later after opening audition i put the main body which is the visuals. next i began adding the background noises in this case natural background. to create the natural scenery i used a sound from the file which had a light chirping and some mild chimes in the back which gave the natural and bright tone to the visuals. further in I edited the foot steps of the dinosaur and included some other touch ups such as background Mario music and tail sweeps to make it more realistic. what i had to keep in mind was the volume of the sounds as if the don't fit together then this means we would have to make more changes to the sounds however it was a successful attempt to sound design and all the sounds and volumes were at a reasonable loudness, length and timing which was extremely crucial.

10/03/22- today we made a start on our pitch presentations. I didn't have an initial idea so i went forward and began analysing and seeing the variety of short films and started an introductory page for my pitch. i decided to make a crime, drama, thriller(tension) style film based on a non-fictional story or a based on a true story film which will give me an understanding of what audiences may be interested in. i further want to know what my general narrative is and perhaps build understanding on how I want the structure it to look.

14/03/22- i started making my initial mind map for the fmp. and designed a brief storyline for the fmp.

15/03/22-  we started making our pitches for the fmp. I made a mood board and finalised my initial idea which was a horror short film.

16/03/22- we finalised our pitches. we presented our pitches and received feedback on how well it is and any changes i could make to make it more successful.

21/03/22- added more to my research page. analysed short films and began making comparisons between the styles and purposes of short films. i decided to compare two completely different short films and see what similarities they have and what differences they have

22/03/22- we did a lesson on moodboard viewing previous moodboards and what they are and more analysis which i've included with my version of my moodboard.

23/03/22- i started my pre-production stage, and began with creating risk assessments for each location.

24/03/22- this hour was primarily dedicated to catching up and completing any incomplete work. i decided to work more on the research side for my fmp and add more short film analysis

28/03/22- we went through genre analysis as a class and viewed what is a genre and analysed what the genre for some movies are as well as why the fall into their particular genres. we also learnt about the traditional conventions such as iconography, narrative, and thematic.

29/03/22- we viewed some previous FMP work which i found very useful as this helped visualise what to expect and possibly and idea that can be recreated. we also began an auteur research which is basically analysis on a video which a big influence to my final idea.

30/03/22-we started looking into screen play and script writing. as a class we analysed a part of a script and seeing the break down of each aspect of script writing. this was very useful we've never learnt script writing as a lesson before so learning how a professional one is created and why the different aspects are so important was very helpful to know.

31/03/22- we went through motion animation using a png as a pin puppet. this was something new to learn which was very interesting however id not use this as a strength of mine

04/04/22- i had an attempt on creating a vlog reflection on my progress so far and what i have created

05/04/22- ive started making my script. decided what my locations are going to be

06/04/22- today i worked more on the pre-production side. made a start on the location recce and risk assessment

07/04/22- i scouted and took some shots of the locations and finished the location recce and risk assessment

11/04/22- finished and finalised the script and storyline. thought of the character roles and names

12/04/22-finalised script and and started shot list
03/05/22-  fixed a name for my film and analysed the work of a director that has inspired my work.
04/05/22- began fixing parts of my proposal and reflected on my pitch presentation
09/05/22- finished any incomplete research work. created an equipment list printed out per ission to film forms for my film.
10/05/22- made a start on my evaluation
11/05/22- created a cast list and roles each actor will be playing. finished creating shot list
16/05/22- location one filming on the road. this went well and we got soem very clear takes
17/05/22- started filming in location 2 house. this was slightly more challenging as it required a minamal space and as good as possible shots as well as maintaing a consistent time period
18/05/22- started location 3 underpass. this was another challenge making sure i have all shots taken and making sure they are done in time and in the highest quality possible
23/05/22-
